NSR 6035 17.5mm extra light 35-tooth sidewinder gears are used to achieve proper gear mesh when motors are mounted so the motor shaft and rear axle are parallel to each other. Unlike anglewinder gears that have beveled teeth, the teeth on an sidewinder gear are straight cut. Sidewinder setups are typically used with short-can (FC-130) motors because of 1:32 chassis width constraints. This sidewinder gear is 17.5mm in diameter and has 35 teeth (35T).
NSR 17.5mm sidewinder gears are designed for NSR 2.37mm diameter axles which are slightly smaller than 2.38mm (3/32") axles used by other manufacturers (e.g. Slot.it, Sloting Plus). Selecting a pinion gear to mesh properly with NSR 17.5mm sidewinder gears will depend on the motor and motor mount you plan to use. Use the link below to determine NSR pinion gears designed to work with this sidewinder gear.
Notes:
- We recommend a NSR solid axle with this gear (see "Related Products" below). This gear will NOT fit 2.38mm axles (e.g. Slot.it, Sloting Plus) unless you plan to use a reamer to enlarge the gear's center bore (we don't recommend this approach - simply use a Slot.it gear designed for the larger axle).
- While not required, we recommend applying a VERY THIN layer of grease on the pinion gear and sidewinder gear teeth. Our Slot Car Grease is an excellent lubricant for this purpose.
- NSR sidewinder gears are secured to the axle using an 4-40 set screw that is included. You will need a 1.3mm (.050") hex driver to install/remove the set screw (see "Related Products" below).
- Use care not to overtighten the set screw as you can strip the threads in the sidewinder gear. Replacement 4-40 set screws are available in the "Related Products" section below - it's a good idea to have some spares on your bench and/or in your pit box.
Package contains one (1) sidewinder gear.
