Description
In June 2013 Lord Paul Dryson drove his Lola B12/69 racing EV to break the 200 MPH speed barrier on the Elvington airport tarmac. This broke the previous speed record for sub-1000 kg electric vehicles (EV), which had been standing for forty years, by almost 30 MPH.
The prototype of this vehicle stemmed from a LeMans B10 Lola whose drive train, electrical and electronics were completely replaced. The positioning and cooling of the replacement components was a major technical challenge.
Lord Dyson is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.
