The center pin's SOLE purpose is to guide the bit.  The gain depth should be set using a scrap piece of MDF and a short piece of the actual braid you plan to install.  A good starting point is to set the router bit depth to .040\".  Make some test cuts (slot and gains) using the scrap MDF to achieve the correct gain depth BEFORE routing the actual gains in your track. We have a solution designed and fabricated specifically for rolling braid or copper tape - our SCC Deluxe Braid Roller.  Whether you are installing 1\/4\" wide braid or copper tape for a new layout or performing routine maintenance to an existing layout, the SCC Deluxe Braid Roller is the right tool for the job. This is necessary because press-on plastic wheels require a knurled axle - the knurled portion of the axle requires the bushing's bore to be slightly oversized to accommodate it.  The result is rear axle movement inside the bushing (\"slop\") which adversely affects a car's handling. Most racers probably don't give bushings much thought - after all, a bushing is a bushing, right?  However, aftermarket bronze bushings vary in several key such as the bronze alloy the bushing is made from, manufacturing tolerances and dimensions.  Manufacturers of aftermarket bronze bushings often use bronze alloys that are easy to machine as this reduces machine time and cost.  In contrast, \u003cstrong style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\"\u003eour bushings are made from SAE Bearing Grade bronze\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\"\u003ewhich is more costly to machine but results in a bushing with a low co-efficient of friction and longer life.  \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\"\u003eOur bushings also feature \u003cstrong style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\"\u003every tight, consistent tolerances\u003c\/strong\u003e for improved performance.  We've also listened to racers and made some very slight changes to critical bushing dimensions.  For example, the diameter of the outer race which fits into the chassis bushing carrier is slightly smaller on our bushings than most other aftermarket bronze bushings.  This puts less stress on the (plastic) bushing carriers which reduces the risk of damaging the bushing carriers (which often renders the chassis unusable) when installing the bushings.  The additional clearance also makes
